What is a domain transfer?
A domain name transfer will change the company where you domain name is managed. Australian domain name transfers are free. You only pay domain name renewal, when your domain name needs to be renewed. Global domain name transfers are also free but global domain names must be renewed for another year when transferred.
Domain name transfer does not involve changing ownership of your domain.Although domain transfers can be used to change ownership of a global domain name, generally most people transfer domains for better service, better price, or services like domain forwarding and advanced DNS.
Please note: If you are having problems with your current registrar, we cannot help you until you have completed the domain name transfer process as outline below, and your domain name is in our system. As much as we can sympathize with your problems, we cannot help you because we do not have access to your domain name, until you transfer in your domain name.

There is no charge to transfer a domain name and global domain names need only to be renewed for an additional year, in order to be transferred to us.
How to transfer an Australian domain name
Click here to recover your domain name password. An automated email will be sent to the registrant email address and this will contain your domain name password. If you no longer have access to the registrant email address, you need to contact or login to your current registrar and get your email address updated
before you initiate the domain name transfer. Please do not skip this step, because some registrars put their own email address as the registrant email address and by using the form to recover your domain name password, it will also tell you the registrant email address for that domain name.

the next screen will say that there is no charge to transfer in an Australian domain name. Fill in the form completely, being careful not to click the back key on your browser.
You will then receive an email confirming your transfer request. The registrant will
also receive an email asking them to agree to the domain name transfer and this automated email will need to be replied to. The system will detect that the authorization email has been replied and within 48 hours, the domain name will be transferred to us and you will then receive, your username and password. If for some reason, you do not receive an email asking you to confirm your transfer request, then please
contact us, so that we can find out why.
How to transfer a global domain name
Global domain names have a rule that if you have bought or renewed a domain name recently, you are unable to transfer out until a period of 60 days has elapsed. Do not attempt to transfer in a domain name, if you have recently renewed or bought a global domain name, ie .com, .net , .org domain name.
This is an important step because some registrars choose to use their own email address instead of your email address, as the registrant email address. To check the listed registrant email address for your domain name perform a whois lookup. . Please check that you have both access to your registrant email address and your domain name is unlocked. If your domain is locked, you will need to unlock the domain name prior to initiating the domain name transfer.
To transfer your domain, you will need to retrieve your domain name password and check the status of your domain name. Different registrars call the domain password by different names. eg registry key, authorization code, but most will have the key displayed when you login. If your domain name status is "registrar lock" you will need to unlock your domain before you will be able to transfer your domain. If you have problems finding your domain name password, email your current registrar, you by ICANN rules must provide the registrant with the domain name password. Please check that the registrant email address is correct and domain name status is unlocked by performing a whois lookup because this is the only way to verify that your details are correct at the central registry.
Note: The registry key or domain password is different from the password that you will use to login to your online domain name management. Usually, you can easily retrieve the login password by entering your domain in the "forgot password" field and your login password will be sent to the registrant's email address. You can then login and find your domain password.
- Step 3: Initiate Transfer
Click here to initiate domain name transfer .You will need to fill in your domain name, domain name password, read and agree to terms and conditions and fill in your details. If you have bought a domain from domains.passioncomputng.com.au before, you do not need to fill in your personal details again, simply log in with your username and password. You will need to pay for domain name renewal to complete the transfer request. You will receive an email confirming your transfer request.
- Step 4: Authorize Transfer
After you complete the domain name transfer form, the registrant (in most cases the registrant will be you) will receive an email. asking to confirm the transfer.If for some reason, you do not receive an email asking you to confirm your transfer request, then please contact us, so that we can find out why. The email will provide you with a username and password, which you will use to login to the url stated in the email and enter your domain password, agree to the terms and provide a phone number. When you complete this form, the transfer will be authorized and usually within 7 days, your domain will be transferred in.
Once your domain name has been transferred in, you will receive email notification.
How to transfer a New Zealand domain name
Go to your current registrar and find out your UDAI or Unique Domain Authentication Identifier.
Click here to initiate domain name transfer . You need to fill in your domain name, agree to the terms and conditions and paste your UDAI. Then complete the form. Fill in the form completely, being careful not to click the back key on your browser. You will receive a confirmation email about your transfer request.
The registrant will also receive an email confirming your transfer request. If for some reason, you do not receive an email asking you to confirm your transfer request, then please
contact us, so that we can find out why. Please follow the instructions in the email to complete the transfer.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why did I not receive a transfer authorization email?
There are several reasons why this could have happened. SPAM filters occasionally delay or stop automated email from being received. Occasionally registrars use their own email address in the whois database and not the registrant email address. You may not be looking in the registrant email address or have not updated your registrant email address.
Can I receive free domain forwarding (web forwarding) after I transfer my domain to you?
Yes, once your domain has transferred across, you can login to your account and follow Web Forwarding Instructions.
Why do you offer free domain forwarding and free online access to domain names, and I bought a domain name for double the price and get no access to the domain name unless I buy hosting?
There are some registrars who for commercial reasons do not allow customers access to their domain names. Generally, the reason is that people will be forced into buying hosting and email services because they don't have access to their domain name. Many people do not know that they can and should get access to their domain name. The internet and word of mouth will mean that many people will come to expect online access to their domain name and there is no long term gain in forcing customers into plans and products that they are not 100% happy to buy, especially when it is so easy to transfer to another registrar or service.
