How does DIY website software work?
This software is a hosted software. It is a browser based software and you do not need to download of install software. You simply login with a username and password and create your site using the online software. You do need a computer and internet connection to use these online tools to build your own website. It is a simple software to use but users should be aware, that when uploading their own images, to compress images to a reasonable size for the internet. If you upload a large image, it will take a long time for someone to download your webpage - and they probably won't wait around to see it!! We recommend keeping images to less than 40K. Resizing your image, is not the same as compressing an image. Typically, when you take a photo with your digital camera, the size of the photo will be a few megabytes or 1000K or more. You want to edit your photos and logos to around 40K or less, so that your webpage loads in a reasonable time.
Why do I need web hosting?
In order to view webpages, website files need to be uploaded to a web server. Hosting companies provide space on webservers to host websites. Most ISPs provide free hosting space but the disadvantage of using a hosting companies web space, is that your domain name will look like http://members.optusnet.com.au/~firefly75/ , Although, you can forward your domain name, ideally you want to use standard forwarding over framed forwarding because framed forwarding does not allow search engines to index your other webpages. Standard forwarding means that apart from the homepage, all your other webpages will be in the format of your ISPs URL, not your domain name.

Can I change my website content whenever I want?
After you have published your initial website, you can continue to login to the DIY website builder software, make changes and republish your site. The cost of DIY website is the cost of accessing this product and provided that you continue to pay this licensing fee, you are able to continue to use the software to keep your website up to date.
